It gives us great delight to see the catalog of free movies on BitTorrent steadily growing. These films are absolutely free and there’s some great ones. So how did it come about that these movies are available at no cost? Thank the U.S. copyright code. You see, if someone fails to renew the ownership registration, the film falls into the public domain, which means it’s a free-for-all. So we’re happy to present hundreds of free movies. One of our favorite directors is the master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock. We’re happy to report that we have several great freebies by The Master: 39 Steps, Young and Innocent, Under Capricorn, Secret Agent, Jamaica Inn, and The Man Who Knew Too Much.

Now if Roger Corman is more your auteur and you prefer horror to suspense and kitsch to sophistication, then we’ve gotcha covered there as well. From his directorial debut Swamp Women to Attack Of The Giant Leeches to Wasp Woman to the Prison Break-meets-Lost She Gods Of Shark Reef to his hilarious beatnik horror send-up A Bucket Of Blood, Corman never fails to entertain.

Have you noticed that westerns are starting to make a bit of a comeback? What with the recent release of 3:10 To Yuma and The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, you’d think that Hollywood is back in the saddle again. We’ve always had a soft spot for the horse opera. (Speaking of Jesse James, have you seen Jesse James Meets Frankenstein’s Daughter? Now, that’s a horse of a different color.) But we digress… There’s a ton of westerns on BitTorrent ranging from John Wayne classics like Angel And The Bad Man to the Howard Hughes directed vehicle for sex kitten Jane Russell The Outlaw (have you heard the story of the bra that Hughes engineered for the starlet?) to fine ’70s spaghetti westerns such as God’s Gun and They Call Me Trinity.

If film noir is your hard-boiled cup of tea, then check out: D.O.A, the film from which Crank borrowed its plot, Detour, and Quicksand, a fabulously slippery slope of a movie.

Hey, if you are not a “genre person” and just like good movies of all sorts, here’s a few that we think you might enjoy: Cold Sweat, a 1970 actioner directed by early James Bond director Terrence Young and starring tough guy Charles Bronson; The Big Trees, a ’50s drama featuring Kirk Douglas as a ruthless timber baron; Dishonored Lady, a psychological thriller with nymphomania overtones starring the gorgeous Hedy Lamarr; Baby Love, a 1968 English Lolita tale; The Grass Is Greener, featuring Cary Grant and Robert Mitchum
