BitTorrent Bundle: Now With Search, Tagging, and Embed-Anywhere Downloads
2014/05/13

A short survey of our publisher updates, including a new Android media player

BitTorrent Bundle is an experiment in sustainable publishing: a new media format built for big ideas; a creative good that’s designed to become more valuable, each time it’s shared. We launched Bundle just over a year ago. More than 600 of Bundles have been created since then. And today, we’re happy to be in the company of over six thousand registered publishers.

But our job is only just beginning. We’re hard at work on ways to make Bundle (even more) awesome for artists and fans. In the past month, we’ve added a few key updates. Here’s the deal.

Bundle Search and Tagging

If you haven’t noticed already, we now support tagging for your Bundles. Why is this important? Well, we’ve just released search, and having tags will make your Bundle easier for new fans to discover.

To add tags to an existing Bundle, log into your account and edit your Bundle. It’s okay to edit tags if your Bundle is already published. From the editor, just under your Bundle’s description, click “Show Advanced Settings”, and you’ll see the “Add Tag” field.

Here are a couple recommendations:
Provide a tag for each media type in your Bundle, e.g. audio, video, book, music, film. Tag it for the appropriate genres, like hip hop, punk, rock, rap, comedy, drama, etc. If you need to see a few examples, here are some tagged Bundles from the past:

Public Enemy
The Crash Reel
The 4 Hour Chef

Bundle Button Code

Want to link to your Bundle from your website or blog? We’ve got a handy button for you. Just drop in the code below, and you’re good to go.

Bundle Embed Code

We’ve also made it possible for you to add a Bundle player to any web property. It streams all kinds of files: from music, to video, to art and photos. Your fans can play, subscribe, and download your Bundle: all from inside this little widget.

Android Media Player

And now, your fans can play BitTorrent Bundle downloads wherever they are. The BitTorrent mobile app on Android comes with a new media player that allows users to listen to Bundles, right inside the app.

Kick the tires on these new updates, and let us know what you think. Send us a note: Content-contact[at]bittorrent.com. Happy publishing!
