Gullivers Travels Internet Archive

We recently partnered with the Internet Archive to help seed over 1.3 million files in their library. That’s a lot of content and we’re here to help showcase some of the highlights that you can torrent, free of charge. Without further ado, here’s our favorite files from this past week.

Animal Collective Centipede Hz

Animal Collective premiered their latest full-length album, Centipede Hz, live, this past Sunday, on their eponymous station with visuals by AbbyPornter. They’ve offered it up for live streaming here even though the official release date is September 4th.

The Internet Archive contains over a dozen of their best live performances including this gem from Tennessee’s infamous Bonnaroo Festival back in 2009.

Stereogum recently counted down Fugazi’s albums from worst to best. One thing that will never be up for debate is the fact that Ian MacKaye and company put on an incendiary live performance. Head over to Internet Archive and browse some of the highlights.

Hopefully you’re having a good weekend so far…for us, it’s an ideal time to catch up on films. Gulliver’s Travels, the original version from 1939 and the first animated feature from Paramount Studios, is a classic to get acquainted with.

Why mention this now? Besides being one of the most popular films on our BitTorrent stats hotlist, the original narrative, completed in August 1725, was also the antithesis of Daniel Defoe’s widely-accepted novel, Robinson Crusoe. Exploring the implications of colonialism, everything about Gulliver’s Travels refuted Defoe’s optimism in human nature.
