About the Artists
Producer, DJ & instrumentalist El Diablo is a Dubstep & Glitch Hop sorcerer, his sets nothing short of shocking. A powerful and energetic force on the decks, El Diablo is responsible for MalLabel Music’s biggest selling track, “Rollin With My Crew”.
El Diablo cut his teeth in the electronic world with San Francisco’s acclaimed Dhamaal Soundsystem. The crew’s worldly Drum n Bass sound garnered international attention with their 2004 self-titled debut album. The album sold thousands of copies internationally and enjoyed consistent airplay on BBC1 radio as well as being licensed for various features.
El Diablo’s co-production with Joshua Meltzer and Qawali master vocalist Sukhawat Ali-Khan of Dhaamal helped win them the top prize in the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest in the world music category for the song “Where We Meet”.
His latest Album, “Devil in the Machine”, released Oct 24th 2011 also on MalLabel, features a collaboration with the legendary DnB dj, UFO! and remixes by Megalodon and Liquid Stranger and continues his success, currently reaching #41 on the Beatport Charts.
The Genie is an avant garde performing artist and guitar looping innovator from San Francisco. Sponsored by the Line6 production company, he is the creator of a performance style called ‘scratch guitar’ and a unique brand of live-remixing called ‘g-mixing’. Bringing together a hybrid of genres, including trip hop, dubstep, reggae and hip hop, he utilizes unconventional slide techniques while manipulating knobs on his pedals with his toes.
Musashii (Chris Crismond) is a 3D artist, animator, coder, and performer. Once he put the swords down and picked up an Edirol he started to melt the fabric of space and time. He is currently working on Kinect based interactive projects, projection mapping using TouchDesigner, as well as constantly honing his 3d skills. Musashii’s sets range towards the dark, abstract and technical, melding many different layers into a tempo synched feast for the eyes.
